Logitech G520 LIGHTSPEED
The Logitech G520 LIGHTSPEED comes in both White and Black color schemes. This gaming mouse isn’t the lightest and for being of a bulkier size you will have to push this mouse around using a palm grip, which makes it more suitable for bigger hands. The whole mount is covered in a softer touch plastic with hints of glossy plastic areas, like the detail between the different sections. the soft touch coating gives it a better level of grip to easily hit your actions. around the front, you can find a USB type-c input which is used for charging the mouse when the battery gets low. though there is Logitech’s power play feature which means it’s compatible with powered mouse pads. You can find a layer of PTFE feet at the bottom, for a smooth glide, but it still feels a little rough while using the mouse pad. PTFE is a non-stick fluoropolymer coating that is used to reduce friction between the feet and the surface. The scroll wheel looks a little bulky but the clicks are comparatively lighter. It also has the Logitech logo on its top which is very tasteful and looks great on the desk.
Logitech G502 X Plus
G502 X Plus is also available in White and black versions with an ergonomic right-handed shape. There are some subtle changes to it, like the Striking RGB lighting. There have been some compromises in weight and battery life when the RGB is turned on. the stated battery life is reduced and weight is also slightly heavier at 106 grams instead of 102 grams. On the brighter side, it comes with light sync RGB which includes an eight-zone LED lighting area that is fully customizable. it’s multi-zone which means you can customize it quite a lot to suit your desk setup and or sync it up with a compatible light sync keyboard so they both show the same colors and effects at the same time. the RGB area is at the end of the mouse where the palm of your hand sits which means 80% of the RGB gets covered while you are using the mouse. Though it’s not a big deal, and probably doesn’t matter to the majority of its users but some competitors do offer a greater area of lighting just in case you are a fan of RGB lighting. You can find a thicker layer of Virgin Grade PTFE feet which aids with gliding across a mouse mat better. The scroll wheel also gets a little update of its own, they redesigned the scroll wheel making it a little bit thinner. It’s still got the infinite scroll wheel, but the clicks feel heavier when compared to the older version. Overall, the design is a little bulky to comfortably slip inside a laptop bag.

Logitech G502 LIGHTSPEED
It has an excellent click latency, a remarkably consistent sensor, and a wide CPI range, whether you’re moving the mouse slowly or quickly. It has a ton of programmable buttons and you can also shift a G shift button to give an additional layer of programmable inputs. If we consider MMO gaming, the Logitech G502 LIGHTSPEED is an excellent option. It doesn’t have a design that is dedicated to MMO, considering that it doesn’t have as many side buttons. it still has more programmable inputs than most typical FPS gaming mice.
Logitech G502 X PLUS
The successor of G502 Lightspeed, G502X Plus has a storage compartment underneath, for its USB receiver. It is also an excellent mouse for FPS gaming. it has remarkably low click latency and overall great sensor performance, delivering a quick, responsive gaming experience. The drawback is its slightly heavyweight, which makes it significantly heavier than most dedicated FPS models, which also means it’s more challenging to make quick movements while gaming. The Logitech G502 X PLUS is also an excellent mouse for MMO gaming. Again, this upgrade also doesn’t have many inputs as a dedicated MMO model, but you can program all of the buttons it does have using the customization software. The built feels comfortable for long gaming sessions.
Grip
Logitech G520 LIGHTSPEED
G502 Lightspeed provides us with a rubber grip on the thumb side, however, the texture of it is a little flimsy. It’s not comfortable for left-handed users, considering its design. The consistent CPI range helps to maintain ease while moving the mice with quick speed, preventing sturdy movements. It provides you with thumb finger rest, which is most useful in a palm grip, a finger rest can serve to increase comfort and reduce the drag of your finger rubbing on the mousepad. It’s clearly more comfortable to be used by bigger hands.
Logitech G502 X Plus
There is a very clear upgrade in the rubber grip with this model, which is thicker and provides a better grip and also doesn’t feel flimsy. Again, this version is also not the friendliest for left-handed users considering its ergonomic right-handed shape. Just like the G520 LIGHTSPEED version, it serves to increase comfort and reduce the drag of your finger by the thumb finger rest.
Wireless Versatility and Cable

You can pair a maximum of 1 device with this mouse, and it comes with a rechargeable battery. You can continuously keep charging your G502 while at rest and play with the POWERPLAY wireless charging solution. It comes with a receiver extender, which means you can plug into the receiver to reduce the distance between your mouse and the receiver itself. It’s useful to reduce the latency of the wireless connection, improve the reliability of the connection or extend the wireless range. It comes additionally with a braided cable.
Logitech G502 X Plus
The G502 X is compatible with Logitech G POWERPLAY wireless charging mats for extended battery life, you can use this version while charging as well. The receiver extender remains in this upgrade as well. It also comes with ‘active play detection,’ which automatically turns the RGB lighting off when you have your hand on the mouse, conserving battery power. It comes with a rubber cable in addition.
Conclusion
Logitech has done an incredible job with understanding their customers and considering the elements that can get improved in the newer version. My personal favourite upgrade is the Virgin Grade PTFE feet which significantly improves the gliding experience in G502X Plus. Considering the price of the upgraded version, I would personally stick with G502 LIGHTSPEED. But if you are looking forward to get rid of your LIGHTSPEED model and still get a familiar experience from the new mouse, you can definitely go ahead with X Plus.
