DESIGN
Razer Basilisk Ultimate
The Razer Basilisk Ultimate resembles the standard Razer Basilisk but with somewhat sharper fronts on the L/R buttons. The left-hand thumb rest has a different texture and feels a little more premium. The RGB lighting strips on either side, the mouse, and the logo are the same as on the ordinary Basilisk. This mouse resembles the Logitech G502 LIGHTSPEED Wireless. The Razer Basilisk Ultimate is a reasonably portable gaming mouse. While most users would likely use it exclusively with their home gaming setup, it will fit in a bigger laptop carrying cases or bags, and its USB receiver may be stored in the mouse. The Razer Basilisk Ultimate has superb build quality. While it is composed of the same solid, high-quality plastic as the regular Basilisk, the feet are more comfortable. There are no loose or wobbly components.

It has a pleasant form with easy-to-press buttons and a thumb rest on the left side. People of all hand sizes will find this mouse comfortable in the palm grip. If you have a medium to extra-large hand and rest your ring finger near the right button, you can accidentally click it because the right button overlaps to the side. Still, most individuals who sleep their ring finger on the mouse’s side won’t be bothered by this.
The Razer Basilisk Ultimate includes 11 buttons, including the L/R wheel tilt, and all of them, as well as the up/down scroll and profile switch on the bottom of the mouse may be reprogrammed using the accompanying software. A HyperShift button can also be assigned to provide a second layer of programmed buttons.
Razer Basilisk X Hyperspeed
Except for the lack of RGB lights, the Razer Basilisk X Hyperspeed resembles the Razer Basilisk Ultimate. It also lacks the sniper button located on the left side of the mouse. It has the same ergonomic right-handed design with a thumb rest. While most users will leave the Razer Basilisk X Hyperspeed at home with their gaming setup, its wireless architecture and tiny size mean it should fit in most bags or more prominent laptop cases if necessary. The build quality of the Razer Basilisk X Hyperspeed is outstanding, and it feels just like the much more expensive Razer Basilisk Ultimate, which is fantastic. The only distinction between the two is that the Ultimate has higher-quality feet, which may or may not be significant to everyone. When you shake the mouse, the only wobbling you hear is from the battery, which isn’t perceptible in everyday use.
The Razer Basilisk X Hyperspeed weighs a lot. The Default Weight result contains an AA Amazon rechargeable battery which weighs 15.10g. CABLES AND WIRELESS VERSATILITY
Razer Basilisk Ultimate
The provided Micro-USB cable is identical to the one included with the Razer Viper Ultimate and far superior to most other Razer cords. It’s a high-quality cable with plenty of flex. It can be used to link your mouse to your PC or as an extension cable for the USB receiver by plugging it into the provided adapter. The Razer Basilisk Ultimate is available in both wired and wireless configurations. It includes a USB receiver that can be plugged directly into your computer or into the included cradle to act as an extension if your computer is too far away from your mouse. If you also want to utilize your mouse with your workstation through Bluetooth, consider the less expensive Razer Basilisk X Hyperspeed. However, its performance isn’t as good as the Ultimate variant.
Razer Basilisk X Hyperspeed
The Razer Basilisk X Hyperspeed is a wireless mouse that cannot be connected to a computer. The Razer Basilisk X Hyperspeed is a Bluetooth-only mouse that may also be used with the bundled USB receiver. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have a rechargeable battery built-in and takes a single AA battery. Razer promises that a single AA battery will last 450 hours on Bluetooth and 285 hours with the USB receiver. However, we have yet to test this.
PERFORMANCE
Razer Basilisk Ultimate
The Razer Basilisk Ultimate boasts an extremely low click latency. It’s also really consistent. You will not notice any discernible click latency delays when playing games with this mouse. When this mouse is connected to its wireless receiver, there is a real pattern in click latency variation. However, because it just varies by a few milliseconds, you won’t detect this variation pattern in-game. The Razer Basilisk Ultimate has a resistance setting on the underside that allows you to choose between notched scrolling and quicker, free-scrolling modes. There are additional left and right tilt inputs on the scroll wheel. It should be noted that these tilt inputs do not scroll horizontally by default, but you can programme them to do so using the modification software.
The Razer Basilisk Ultimate is an excellent office mouse. While it has a more gamer-centric appearance, it has a comfortable and ergonomic right-handed design with a thumb resting on the left-hand side that makes it easy to operate. It contains numerous more customizable buttons that can assist you in swiftly navigating your programmes or documents. The mouse wheel can also be modified via a slider on the bottom of the mouse to let you choose a more fluid or clicky scrolling experience, which is fantastic. While persons with very small hands may have difficulty reaching the side sniper button when using a claw or fingertip grip, this button may be simply removed and replaced with a space filler.
Razer Basilisk X Hyperspeed
When connected to its USB receiver, the Razer Basilisk X Hyperspeed boasts extremely low click latency. When linked over Bluetooth, the click latency is substantially higher and less constant. This is typical, and a Bluetooth connection is not advised for reaction-based game play. The Razer Basilisk X Hyperspeed’s mouse wheel is poor. While the scroll itself is quite clicky, unlike the regular Razer Basilisk or the Razer Basilisk Ultimate, there is no scroll adjustment adjuster on the bottom of the mouse to change this, which is a bummer. An entire mouse wheel scroll from front to back will result in approximately 10 or 11 clicks. The Razer Basilisk X Hyperspeed mouse is a surprisingly good office mouse. While it has a relatively gamer-centric appearance, the lack of RGB lighting and showy design components ensures it will blend in with most settings. It boasts an ergonomic right-handed form and a thumb rest, making it ideal for all-day use. Its two additional buttons, as well as its L/R and scroll wheel, may be reprogrammed, allowing you to create shortcuts to assist you in swiftly browsing your desktop or business software.
GAMING
Razer Basilisk Ultimate
The Razer Basilisk Ultimate is an excellent mouse for first-person shooter games. It boasts excellent click latency, a wide range of CPI sensitivity levels, and the ability to reprogram any button. The mouse has 14 configurable RGB zones throughout, and the feet are an improvement over the standard Razer Basilisk, allowing the mouse to glide more easily around your desk. It can be used with any grip and any hand size, with the exception of fingertip or claw grips, which are likely to cause problems with tiny hands.
The Razer Basilisk Ultimate is a superb mouse for MMO gaming. While it lacks the number of buttons found on a dedicated MMO mouse, it does include three additional buttons that, like every other button, can be reprogrammed using Razer’s software. The scroll wheel, unlike many Razer mice, features an L/R tilt that can be programmed. It’s comfortable enough for long gaming sessions and can be used in practically any grip type by almost any hand size. However, individuals with very few hands may struggle to reach the sniper button with a claw or fingertip grip.
Razer Basilisk X Hyperspeed
Unfortunately, the Razer Basilisk X Hyperspeed is only suitable for FPS games because of its weight, and you won’t be able to respond as swiftly in-game with it. Nonetheless, it boasts a very low click latency and an ergonomic form well-suited to all grip types plus hand sizes. The Razer Basilisk X Hyperspeed mouse is an excellent choice for MMO gaming. While it lacks the number of buttons seen in a dedicated MMO mouse, every button on this mouse can be reprogrammed. It’s also quite comfortable to hold with any grip and size of the hand, except for a fingertip with very few hands. Unfortunately, despite having onboard memory, you cannot store macros to it.
SOFTWARE
Razer Basilisk Ultimate
The Razer Synapse 3 is an excellent piece of software. You may modify each mouse button, save several profiles, change the CPI and polling rate, and configure the 14 RGB zones. This mouse also features onboard memory, which means you won’t lose your customized settings if you transfer computers. Unfortunately, the Razer Synapse 3 is not compatible with macOS. While this mouse works with the default button configurations on Mac out of the box, if you wish to edit them, you must do so on a Windows-based PC and save the modifications to the mouse.
Razer Basilisk X Hyperspeed
This mouse is compatible with the excellent software Razer Synapse 3. It includes onboard memory, so you can access your custom profiles on PCs that don’t have Synapse 3 installed. However, you can only preserve the sensitivity settings and remapped keyboard/mouse operations, not macros. You can only personalize the Razer Synapse 3 on a Windows computer because it is only compatible with Windows. To access your custom profiles on a Mac, you must first personalize the mouse on a Windows computer and store the settings to the onboard memory.
CONCLUSION
The Razer Basilisk Ultimate outperforms the Razer Basilisk X Hyperspeed. The Ultimate may be used wired or wirelessly, and it has RGB lights, more buttons, and a better-performing sensor. The X, on the other hand, may be utilized over Bluetooth and is often significantly cheaper.
