Logitech G715
The Logitech G715 features a TenKeyLess design that frees up desk space for mouse movements while gaming. It is quite well-made and its plastic chassis is highly robust and has little flex, and its metal top plate is rigid. The keycaps are double-shot PBT plastic, and the legends are shine-through to show off the RGB lighting. A plastic modular plate covers the top plate on this keyboard. For some personalization, Logitech offers this top plate in three distinct colors. It attaches with a set of magnets, making it simple to remove and replace, although it feels a little flimsy.
Because of the two incline settings and inbuilt wrist rest, the Logitech G715 provides good ergonomics. The cloud-shaped wrist rest features a faux leather coating, which gives a wonderful grip and makes it feel quite soft. It does not attach directly to the board, so you can put it wherever you choose. The Logitech G715 features individually-lit keys with complete RGB backlighting that may be customized per key. There’s also an LED strip around the keyboard’s frame that offers an underglow effect, which you may customize in the software. The color mixing isn’t ideal since the keyboard displays pure white with a strong blue hue.
Logitech G815 LIGHTSYNC RGB
The Logitech G815 is a large keyboard due to its full-size design and is slightly longer than most other gaming keyboards due to its added dedicated macro key column. It is a wired version of the Logitech G915 LIGHTSPEED.
The entire construction is consistent and feels solid and high-end. The board has some flex, which could be attributed to its thinness. On the plus side, the metal frame and solid plastic feel sturdy, and the ABS keycaps aren’t cheap. Unfortunately, the board, like the Logitech G915, appears twisted immediately out of the box. However, because we don’t have any other units to compare it to, this could simply be our unit.
The Logitech G815 has excellent ergonomics thanks to its two inclination settings. It lacks a wrist rest, which may not be necessary considering the board’s low profile. Logitech G815 comes with complete RGB illumination that can be adjusted via the G HUB software. It’s brightness can also be adjusted directly on the board. When utilized in the dark, the lighting is bright enough to see in the daytime and shines brightly.
FEATURES
Logitech G715
The Logitech G715 comes with a few extras. To control your media, there are dedicated media keys and a volume knob at the top of the keyboard. There’s also a ‘Game Mode’ toggle to deactivate the Windows key, but you may use the accompanying software to change this function to disable whatever key you desire. The Logitech G715 employs Logitech’s proprietary GX switches and is available in Brown Tactile, Blue Clicky, and Red Linear configurations. The Brown Tactile switches have a short pre-travel distance and a light working force. Because these switches aren’t pre-lubricated, they feel a little scratchy.
Logitech G815 LIGHTSYNC RGB
This keyboard provides a plethora of useful supplementary features. At the upper right corner of the board, you’ll find dedicated media keys and a volume wheel. You can also personalize the specialized macro keys on the left column and save up to three different profiles, totaling 15 macros. Our Logitech G815 comes standard with GL Tactile switches, but it is also available with GL Clicky or GL Linear switches. The tactile switches feature a short pre-travel distance and are simple to operate, giving them a snappy and light feel. They also give you haptic feedback.
PERFORMANCE
Logitech G715
The Logitech G715 provides an excellent overall typing experience. The PBT keycaps are incredibly comfortable to type on, and the larger modifier keys, such as the spacebar and enter, are very stable. Smaller modifier keys, such as ALT, TAB, and CTRL, lack stabilizers totally, resulting in a visible wobble and rattling when hit. The keys are well-spaced, and the accompanying wrist rest keeps you well-supported when typing, preventing wrist strain. The Logitech G715 with GX Brown Tactile switches is a rather quiet keyboard to type on. Because the modifier keys lack stabilizers, there is some extra rattle when using them, although it isn’t distracting. When used in wired mode or with its USB receiver, the Logitech G715 offers very low latency. It’s well-suited to any gaming genre, and you won’t experience any lag when playing.
Logitech G815 LIGHTSYNC RGB
Because of the minor wobble of the keys, the typing quality of the Logitech G815 isn’t the finest. The tactile feedback of the keys is pleasant; however, the short travel distance might be confusing because the keys do not bottom out as expected. Typing on may feel strange at first, but you’ll get used to it shortly. The GL Tactile switches have a similar sensation to the iconic Cherry MX Brown switches but require somewhat more force to activate, which most users won’t notice. Typing on the G815 is relatively quiet if you obtain the model with GL Tactile switches, just like on the Logitech G915 LIGHTSPEED.
This should not bother coworkers in an open office atmosphere. Because of an internal problem when we published the Test Bench upgrade, the latency video and results were not publicly viewable
This keyboard has very low latency, making it ideal for competitive gaming.
CABLE AND VERSATILITY
Logitech G715
The Logitech G715 comes with a simple rubber USB-A to USB-C charging cable that maintains packing kinks. The wireless versatility of the Logitech G715 is excellent. It can connect to one device via Bluetooth and another via its USB receiver. Logitech claims a battery life of 25 to 30 hours with the backlighting on full brightness, though this may vary based on your usage.
Logitech G815 LIGHTSYNC RGB
This keyboard is wired only, and the cord cannot be removed. It should be long enough to let you reach your desktop without difficulty. The cable terminates in two USB plugs, one of which is required for the USB passthrough. The Logitech G815 is a wired keyboard only. If you prefer a wireless keyboard, consider the Logitech G915 LIGHTSPEED, which is the same but wireless.
SOFTWARE AND COMPATIBILITY
Logitech G715
For customization, the Logitech G715 employs Logitech G HUB software. To enable an additional layer of programming, you can remap keys, program macros to the F1-F12 keys, and attach a G-Shift button. There’s also the option to disable keys other than the Windows key in “Game Mode,” and you can fully configure the RGB lighting. These personalized settings can be saved to the keyboard’s onboard memory and accessible on systems without the G HUB software.
Because all buttons function properly, the Logitech G715 is fully compatible with all desktop and mobile operating systems. However, neither Linux nor any of the mobile operating systems support the G HUB companion software.
Logitech G815 LIGHTSYNC RGB
Logitech G HUB offers a ton of customization options with the Logitech G815. You can set your keybindings, set macros, control your lightings, and save all of your desired settings in different profiles. Also, you can also store up to three profiles directly on the keyboard but can create as many as you want inside the software and can also download previously uploaded profiles using the cloud sync, but this feature will require an account.
While this keyboard is entirely compatible with Windows, some keys, such as Print Screen and Pause, do not work on macOS. Furthermore, because the G HUB software isn’t accessible on Linux, you won’t be able to personalize it. On the plus side, you can save profiles on a Windows or macOS computer and then use the keyboard on Linux with your chosen settings, thanks to its onboard memory.
GAMING
Logitech G715
The Logitech G715 gaming keyboard is excellent. At checkout, you have the option of selecting one of three GX mechanical switch types, all of which are suitable for gaming. It has exceptionally low latency, making it suitable for whatever genre of game you choose to play. Its build quality is very high, and it’s incredibly comfortable to use for extended periods of time because of the included wrist rest, which provides excellent ergonomic support. Furthermore, the Logitech G HUB software enables extensive RGB backlighting customization, though macro programming is confined to the F1-F12 keys.
Logitech G815 LIGHTSYNC RGB
The Logitech G815 is a great gaming keyboard with low-profile keys and a short pre-travel distance. It also doesn’t take much energy to actuate, but it’s a little heavier than popular Cherry MX Brown keys. It has extremely low latency and looks beautiful in the dark thanks to its full RGB illumination.
ENTERTAINMENT
Logitech G715
The Logitech G715 is a good wireless keyboard for use in a home theatre PC setup because it can easily connect to your HTPC or Smart TV via Bluetooth or a USB receiver. It also includes dedicated media keys and a volume wheel to let you navigate around on-screen media. However, it lacks a trackpad for on-screen cursor navigation, necessitating the use of remote or other accessories. Otherwise, it’s a well-made device with full RGB illumination and shine-through keycaps that make the legends easy to read in the dark.
Logitech G815 LIGHTSYNC RGB
The Logitech G815 is insufficient for use with a home theatre computer. Because it lacks a trackpad, you must use a mouse to navigate. It’s also a wired-only keyboard, which isn’t ideal if you have children who could trip over wires. If you require wireless connectivity, you can choose the Logitech G915 LIGHTSPEED.
CONCLUSION
The Logitech G715 is an excellent programming keyboard. The TenKeyLess size takes very little desk space and feels very well-built, with high-quality PBT keycaps. It’s also quite comfortable, thanks to the cloud-shaped wrist rest and two incline settings that come with it. While the Logitech G815 is a fantastic gaming keyboard with low-profile keys and a short pre-travel distance. It also doesn’t take much energy to actuate, but it’s a little heavier than popular Cherry MX Brown keys. It has extremely low latency and looks beautiful in the dark thanks to its full RGB illumination.
